I too love introspection. I think it's realistic for everyone to have low moments, and still basically be a strong person, as you say. A healthy response to an unhealthy situation, as it were. Thank you for your comments!
"She'd cried more in the past month than in the previous seven years. It was terrifying, but liberating as well." I really, really loved this line. That summed up the entire experience, both in the DQ and upon returning home, in just two short lines.
